R R Red

The painting, “RR Red” was commissioned by the Bellefonte Art Musem, for their exhibit, Awash With Color, June through August 2023.

The painting had to be done in primarily one color, red.  I selected the red objects in this painting for their color, subject , architectural appeal, and because some were made by family members.  I arranged the objects on a glossy piece of red wrapping paper, and used a single light source.  The range of the reds  was from red orange, russet, and very bright red.  Some were matte and some were shiny.

finding the write pastels was a challenge…I began this painting with a sketch on mounted UArt paper, washed in the various warm and cool, light and dark reds with watercolor .  This gave me a jump start on the finished painting.

The exhibit will end in late August 2023.  Bellefonte Art Museum, Bellefonte, PA.
